The holiday season is now moving on and we will have to wait another year to enjoy the fun and magic that so defines this time of year. Still, chances are you are still working on your new gifts that you received under the tree. If new computer speakers was part of your holiday gifts this year, you may be ready to set them up so you can start enjoying that lovely sound on your computer.

Speakers are great for listening to music, playing games, or just to provide feedback for you while you are using your computer. Having a great set of speakers is a must in my book if you want to truly enjoy your computer. If you received new speakers this year, you may be wondering the best way to set them up. Today, we walk you through a quick step by step process to help you connect new computer speakers on your machine.

Step 1: Remove Those Old Speakers

First, it’s out with the old and in with the new. Disconnect your old speakers and wrap up all their cables. Don’t throw them out just yet. You never know, you may have a problem with your new speakers or you could find another use for them. If so, you will be glad you still have them.

Step 2: Unbox The New Speakers

Carefully unbox the new speakers taking note of all the wires and connections that you will need. Make sure you carefully unwrap all the wires so you don’t stretch them and potentially damage them before you ever get to use them. Set aside the wire ties and the cable wraps that come with it as you can reuse these when you connect them to your computer.

Step 3: Connect the Speakers

Place the new speakers around your machine based on the instructions and your individual setup. Carefully run all the wires to each of the speakers, connecting the speakers together and finally connect the wires to your computer.

Step 4: Check Playback Settings

Once you have them hooked up, check and see if you have sound. If you do, you are almost finished. If you don’t, double check all your connections and reboot your computer. Right-click on the volume icon in your system tray and choose Playback settings. From here, you can test the speakers and even adjust the volumes and balance.

Step 5: Enjoy Your New Speakers

Now that you have the speakers connected and the volume balanced properly, it is time to sit back and relax and enjoy your new speakers. Try loading up your favorite game or maybe even a movie so you can see how well they will perform. If you need to, remember you can always go back into the settings and tweak them to your liking.

Final Thoughts

New speakers are a great addition to any computer system. Just make sure you take the right steps to set them up properly. Trust me you will be glad you did. By taking just a few extra minutes, you can setup and configure your speakers properly so you can enjoy the best quality sound on your system.
