There are so many types of computer speakers out there, from those costing around ten bucks to those that will run you hundreds of dollars, it can be tough to decide which ones are right for you. If you are a gamer, you have probably already invested a ton of money into your system, so you may be tempted to cheap out on the speakers for your new rig. So should gamers invest in high quality computer speakers? Let’s find out.
Audio in Games
First, let’s talk about the audio you will find in modern video games that you play on your computer. I think, once you understand more about the audio in modern games, you will see how important quality speakers are to your gaming experience.
Today’s music in modern games aren’t the 8-bit tones you found in the classic gaming days. They are full sound tracks featuring modern music or fully realized scores of music. To properly enjoy these, you will need decent speakers that can project the lows, mids and highs featured in this scores today. If you don’t have speakers that can handle it, the soundtracks will sound thin and imbalanced, and that can really take away from your overall gaming experience.
Today’s sound effects in game sound just like real life. Car noises, guns, voices, and more, all sound very realistic. Of course, you will only get a sense of that realism if you own a decent set of speakers. With low end speakers, you won’t be able to enjoy some of the best the sound effects have to offer.
Virtually every game created today includes surround sound. That means if someone is coming up behind you, you will be able to hear them. That even means you can hear enemies firing on you from all sides. This will help your game performance as you can tell where you need to turn to find our enemy. If you don’t have a system that can power surround sound, you will have a tough time finding your enemies. This will put you at a disadvantage when you are playing and can really hurt your performance, especially in multiplayer.
I cannot stress enough about the importance of sound if you are a serious gamer. High end games today have some of the best sound you will find anywhere. So why would you want to cheap out on your speakers and miss out on the amazing audio in your favorite games? On top of that, it can impact the success of your gameplay, as most games support surround sound today.
So should gamers invest in high quality computer speakers? I definitely believe the answer is yes. If you don’t, I guarantee that you won’t enjoy your games as much as you would with a high quality system.
What do you think? Do you agree with me or do you think you should stick with cheaper speakers as they will be fine? Tell me your thoughts in the comments section below. I would love to hear what you have to say.
